Compare locations in one weather image.

Show conditions and selected weather details for locations saved in the design. Override a numbered slot in the image URL with a city, coordinate pair, or IP source. DynaMail reads Open-Meteo data for each location and caches weather results for one hour; email clients may reuse an earlier image.

How it works

Every DynaMail widget is a plain image URL. Design it in the dashboard, then paste the URL into an <img> tag — or your email editor’s image block — like this:

Example embed snippet

<img src="https://img.dynamail.io/widgets/YOUR-WIDGET-ID/render.png?location1Query=Chicago&location2Query=Boston" width="560" height="200" alt="" />

YOUR-WIDGET-ID is a placeholder — every widget you create gets its own id. The file extension requests the output format — gif, apng, webp, or png. Depending on the design, an animated widget may be served in an animated format even when a static extension is requested.

DynaMail renders when the image is requested and briefly caches the result. Email clients and their image proxies can also cache images, so a later open may reuse a previous response. No script, no custom HTML, nothing for your email platform to strip out.

What it’s for

  • Travel emails — compare weather at two destinations
  • Regional newsletters — show conditions across selected cities
  • Event planning — compare venue locations

Personalize it in the URL

The data behind the widget — its values, chart points, and text placeholders — can come from the URL. Append query parameters, or your email platform’s merge tags, and each recipient’s open renders from their own data.

?location1Query=…City, postcode, or address for slot 1; use 2 or 3 for other slots
?location1Lat=…&location1Lng=…Coordinate pair for slot 1; use 2 or 3 for other slots
?location1Source=ipUse the image request’s client IP for slot 1; use 2 or 3 for other slots
?temperatureUnit=…Display temperatures in fahrenheit or celsius

Frequently asked questions

How do I change one comparison location?

Use location1Query, location2Query, or location3Query for a city or address; use matching Lat and Lng fields for coordinates. Only the numbered slots you supply replace saved slots. In one slot, valid coordinates take priority over a query, then an IP source.

Can I use location1 or a single locationQuery?

No. Use the numbered Source, Query, Lat, and Lng fields. The legacy location1, location2, and location3 parameters are rejected.

Where does the comparison data come from?

DynaMail fetches each location’s weather from Open-Meteo and caches weather results for one hour. Email clients may reuse an earlier image. Forecasts are estimates for general information and may differ at your location or time. Do not rely on them alone for safety, aviation, marine travel, or emergencies; consult official weather services and authorities.

What happens if a location cannot be fetched?

A production render shows “Weather data unavailable” if any comparison location returns no data. Editor previews may use sample weather.
