A flip clock countdown in your email.

Show time remaining to a specific deadline with flipping number cards. Set the deadline in the image URL or in the widget design. DynaMail calculates the countdown when it renders the GIF; email clients and image proxies may reuse a previously fetched image.

How it works

Every DynaMail widget is a plain image URL. Design it in the dashboard, then paste the URL into an <img> tag — or your email editor’s image block — like this:

Example embed snippet

<img src="https://img.dynamail.io/widgets/YOUR-WIDGET-ID/render.gif?endDate=2030-12-31T23%3A59%3A00Z" width="500" height="140" alt="" />

YOUR-WIDGET-ID is a placeholder — every widget you create gets its own id. The file extension requests the output format — gif, apng, webp, or png. Depending on the design, an animated widget may be served in an animated format even when a static extension is requested.

DynaMail renders when the image is requested and briefly caches the result. Email clients and their image proxies can also cache images, so a later open may reuse a previous response. No script, no custom HTML, nothing for your email platform to strip out.

What it’s for

  • Event reminders — count down to a scheduled start
  • Product launches — show time remaining to one launch date
  • Offer emails — show time remaining until a stated deadline

Personalize it in the URL

The data behind the widget — its values, chart points, and text placeholders — can come from the URL. Append query parameters, or your email platform’s merge tags, and each recipient’s open renders from their own data.

?endDate=…The deadline the countdown runs toward; overrides the date in the design
?timezone=…The timezone for a deadline without an explicit offset
?mode=…Select countdown, time, date, or number display mode

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a flip clock countdown to email?

Design the flip clock in DynaMail, set its deadline, and paste its GIF image URL into an <img> tag. You can also pass endDate in the URL.

Does the flip clock keep counting after delivery?

The GIF is calculated when DynaMail renders it and animates through its frames. A later image request can produce a new countdown; email clients and image proxies may reuse an earlier image.

Can the deadline differ by recipient?

Yes. Put a date from your email platform’s merge tag in the endDate URL parameter. Each distinct image request can render for that date, subject to email client caching.

What does classic Outlook show?

Yes — the widget is a standard image, so it displays wherever images do. The URL extension requests the format (render.gif, render.png, render.webp, render.apng); depending on the design, an animated widget may be served in a compatible animated format even when a static extension is requested. Classic Outlook for Windows shows the first frame of the flip clock GIF. That frame reflects the countdown when the image was rendered; the client may reuse it later.
