Widgets
One campaign. Three designs. A schedule you control.
Create an Upcoming, Active, and Ended design for your promotion. Set its start, end, and timezone, then embed one linked image. DynaMail selects the stage when it receives an image request; email apps may retain an earlier image.

How it works
1
Set the schedule
Choose a start, end, and timezone. The start begins the Active period; the end switches new image requests to Ended.
2
Design all three stages
Edit Upcoming, Active, and Ended independently, using the same canvas dimensions. Previewing a stage changes only what you are working on in the editor.
3
Choose the destination
Link the widget to one page you control. Keep the page accurate throughout the campaign so it can explain the current offer even when an email app shows an older image.
4
Embed the linked image
Copy the image and link into your email template, or insert your saved widget in DynaMail’s email builder. You use the same embed for all three stages.
The finished widget is a plain image URL inside a link — paste it into your template, or your email editor’s image block, like this:
Example embed snippet
<a href="https://your-site.example/campaign"><img src="https://img.dynamail.io/widgets/YOUR-WIDGET-ID/render.png" width="600" height="200" alt="Campaign announcement — view the current offer" /></a>YOUR-WIDGET-ID is a placeholder — every widget you create gets its own id. This widget uses a static PNG for broad email-client support. Use descriptive alt text so readers can understand the image when images are off or a screen reader reads the email.
The saved start and end select the design for each new image request. Email clients and their image proxies may cache the PNG after fetching it. No script, no custom HTML, nothing for your email platform to strip out.
What it’s for
- Product launches — move from an announcement to a launch offer, then an evergreen thank-you
- Seasonal promotions — give an expired offer its own clear Ended design
- Registrations — show different messages before, during, and after the booking window
- Recurring campaign work — duplicate a widget and set the next campaign’s dates
What changes when the schedule advances
DynaMail selects a stage on each request
The renderer compares the current instant with your saved start and end. DynaMail does not reuse a cached rendered campaign image.
An email open is not always an image request
An email client may fetch an image in advance or reuse one it already has. No stage schedule can make those applications refresh at an exact time.
Ended is an explicit design
At and after your end time, new requests use the Ended layout. Make it useful: explain that the offer finished and invite readers to check your campaign page.
One saved schedule and destination
Set the campaign in the dashboard. A production image link does not select a preview stage or change the schedule.
Stage simulation is available only in the editor preview. Keep the campaign destination accurate when you update the schedule or designs.
Frequently asked questions
How do scheduled email campaign stages work?
Save three designs and a start and end time in DynaMail. Before the start, new image requests render Upcoming. At the start they render Active, and at the end they render Ended. The same image URL works throughout the campaign.
Will everyone see the new stage exactly when the offer starts?
No. Email apps and image proxies may prefetch an image or keep a previously fetched copy. DynaMail selects the current stage when it receives a new request, but cannot force an email app to refresh. Link to a campaign page that confirms the current offer.
Can I preview an ended campaign before it launches?
Yes. Select Upcoming, Active, or Ended in the editor to edit and preview that design. This preview does not change your saved dates or the stage selected by real image requests.
Which timezone controls the campaign?
You choose one timezone for the start and end. DynaMail saves the exact instants, so recipients in different timezones share the same campaign boundaries. The editor rejects ambiguous or nonexistent daylight-saving times instead of silently changing them.
Does each stage have a different link?
All three designs use one destination URL saved with the widget. The whole PNG is a single link. Your campaign page should explain the current status, including when a reader clicks an older cached design.
Does it work in Outlook and Gmail?
Yes. Each stage is a static PNG that displays wherever an email application supports images. It does not require scripts or animated-image support.
