How it works

  1. 1

    Write or connect one review

Keep the sample as authored text or inspect a public HTTPS JSON feed with a reviews array.

  2. 2

    Choose an exact feed record

Review the full quote, author, optional rating, and pinned destination before applying a live source.

  3. 3

    Choose a layout and palette

Use a compact, starred, or editorial composition and tune its collection colors and typography.

  4. 4

Save and embed one static PNG

Insert the image in an email with its saved destination, or leave an authored card unlinked.

The finished widget is a plain image URL inside a link — paste it into your template, or your email editor’s image block, like this:

Example embed snippet

<a href="https://dynamail.io/c/YOUR-TRACKED-LINK"><img src="https://img.dynamail.io/widgets/YOUR-WIDGET-ID/render.png" width="600" height="280" alt="Attributed customer review" /></a>

YOUR-WIDGET-ID is a placeholder — every widget you create gets its own id. This widget uses a static PNG for broad email-client support. Use descriptive alt text so readers can understand the image when images are off or a screen reader reads the email.

Authored cards use the review stored in the design. Connected cards resolve only the selected review ID from a fresh source snapshot. Email clients and their image proxies may cache the PNG after fetching it. No script, no custom HTML, nothing for your email platform to strip out.

What it’s for

  • Customer stories — feature one attributed quote in a campaign
  • Course launches — pair participant feedback with an optional star rating
  • Event follow-ups — share a dated attendee review in a compact card
  • Service newsletters — reuse one selected review without provider branding

How connected reviews stay current

  • Fresh snapshots last about five minutes

DynaMail may reuse one valid feed snapshot until its freshness window ends.

  • Unavailable stays neutral

A failed feed, removed review, malformed record, or changed destination shows the unavailable message.

  • Inbox caches can retain an older image

An email application or image proxy may keep a previously fetched card beyond DynaMail’s source refresh window.

One saved review and destination

Configure review content and selection in the dashboard. Public render URLs cannot replace the saved source or review fields.

?pixelRatio=2Render at 2× for high-density screens

Public render requests cannot override quote, author, rating, date, source label, review ID, destination, or preview scenario.

Frequently asked questions

Which review sources does Review Spotlight support?

You can author one review in the editor or connect one public HTTPS JSON feed that follows the documented reviews array shape.

Does DynaMail choose or rewrite the review?

No. You select one exact review ID, and DynaMail renders its supplied plain text without scoring, filtering, summarizing, or rewriting it.

What happens when a connected review disappears?

The image shows a neutral unavailable message. It does not reuse the authored quote or silently select another feed record.

How often can a connected review refresh?

DynaMail may reuse a valid source snapshot for about five minutes. Email applications and image proxies may retain an older image longer.

Can the card link to the full review?

Yes. A connected review pins its supplied review URL, while an authored review can use an optional HTTPS destination. Email embeds use a signed link tied to that saved destination.

Does Review Spotlight show provider badges or verification?

No. The card supports an optional plain source label, but it does not add provider logos, badges, avatars, or verification claims.
