Lineup
A waitlist ticket that’s current in every email you send.
Lineup puts each subscriber’s spot in line and their friends joined into the waitlist emails you already send. Your waitlist tool sends Lineup its signups; you paste one ticket into your emails. It’s free.
Free with a DynaMail account. No hosted form, and Lineup sends no email.

Thanks for joining Tidepool, the calmer calendar for small teams. Here’s your ticket:

Every friend who joins with your link moves you up 250 spots.

How a launch runs on Lineup
1
Point your waitlist tool at Lineup
Add Lineup’s webhook URL to the tool that runs your signup form. Each signup gets a spot, a referral count and a short lineup_id.
2
Paste the ticket into your emails
Put lineup_id into your email tool, then paste one ticket snippet with its merge tag. Confirmation emails, updates and newsletters all carry the same ticket.
3
Referrals move people up
Each friend who joins with someone’s link moves them up the line and counts toward the reward you set, such as early access.
What it works with
Lineup sits between the tool that collects signups and the tool that sends your emails. It doesn’t replace either.
Where signups come from
- LaunchList
- Grow plan or higher, where webhooks are included.
- Waitlister
- Growth plan or higher, where webhooks are included.
- Anything that can post JSON
- Tally, Zapier or your own backend, with a field map for your payload.
Where your emails go out
- Kit
- Paste your Kit V4 API key and Lineup fills a lineup_id field on each subscriber.
- Mailchimp
- CSV today: add lineup_id to your audience export in your browser. Direct sync coming.
- Any other email tool
- Import lineup_id with a CSV, then use your tool’s merge tag in the ticket.
A referral leaderboard, too
The top eight referrers as one image for your updates and newsletters. Names are off unless you turn them on, and the reader’s own row is highlighted when they’re in it.

When the number updates
- Each time an inbox loads the image
- DynaMail draws the ticket with the subscriber’s spot and friends at that moment, and tells inboxes not to keep it.
- Apple Mail and Gmail often keep their first copy
- Apple Mail can load every image when the email arrives, and Gmail’s image proxy can reuse its copy. An old email reopened there may still show the old spot.
- Every email you send later is current without rewriting it
- Each new email asks DynaMail for the ticket when it’s opened, and DynaMail draws the current spot and marks the image not to be cached. Some inboxes, such as Gmail’s image proxy and Apple Mail Privacy Protection, can keep showing a copy they fetched earlier, so the number can lag.

Frequently asked questions
Is Lineup free?
Yes. Lineup is free with a DynaMail account, including the free plan. It adds a ticket to the waitlist tool and the email tool you already use, so there is nothing else to pay for on our side.
Which waitlist tools work with Lineup?
LaunchList on the Grow plan or higher, and Waitlister on the Growth plan or higher, because those plans include webhooks. Any other tool that can post JSON to a webhook URL, such as Tally, Zapier or your own backend, works with a field map.
Does Lineup host a signup form or send emails?
No. Your waitlist tool keeps the form and your email tool sends the emails. Lineup takes signups by webhook, keeps the line and the referral counts, and draws the ticket images.
Will the spot change when someone reopens an old email?
Sometimes. Apple Mail can load images when the email arrives and Gmail’s proxy can reuse its copy, so a reopened email may show the spot from its first load. Each new email asks DynaMail for the ticket when it’s opened, and DynaMail draws the current spot and marks the image not to be cached. Some inboxes, such as Gmail’s image proxy and Apple Mail Privacy Protection, can keep showing a copy they fetched earlier, so the number can lag.
What does a reader see if the merge tag doesn’t fill in?
The ticket without a number. Lineup’s widgets use the “Readers without a value” setting, so a missing, broken or unknown lineup_id hides the spot and the friends count instead of showing someone else’s.
How does lineup_id get into Kit or Mailchimp?
For Kit, paste your Kit V4 API key and Lineup fills a lineup_id custom field on subscribers who are already in Kit. For Mailchimp, drop your audience export into Lineup’s CSV join, which adds a lineup_id column in your browser, and import it back. Direct Mailchimp sync is coming.
Do image URLs contain email addresses?
No. Each subscriber gets a random 10-character lineup_id, and that is what goes in the image URL. Lineup keeps a salted hash of each email address to match referrals, and the raw signup webhooks for 14 days so you can check what your tool sent.
Add a live ticket to your waitlist
